Equal Opportunities at the Faculty of Medicine & at the Klinikum

Diversity Objective Agreement

At the Faculty of Medicine as well as at the Klinikum rechts der Isar, the promotion of scientific talent, personal commitment and innovative spirit is a top priority, regardless of gender, nationality, religion and ideology, disability, age and sexual orientation. In this respect, the Faculty of Medicine complies with the Diversity Objective Agreement of the TUM, which is set out both in the Code of Conduct and in the Diversity Charter signed by the TUM.

Realisation at the state and federal level

In order to take decisive steps forward and implement equal opportunities consistently and concretely, the Faculty of Medicine strives for close networking with universities and scientific institutions at both the state and federal level. In doing so, it relies on cooperation with the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation), which has also committed itself to promoting equal opportunities in medicine and science. The realisation of equal opportunities is the goal of all measures adopted at the Faculty of Medicine, within the framework of the diversity target agreement, which are to be supplemented and expanded over the years as far as possible.

Religion

TUM and clinic employees who wish to practise their religioncan find a connection in the Catholic (KHG), the Protestant (EHG) or the Muslim Student Initiative (MSI) at the TUM. Churches and religious services can be found on the grounds of the Klinikum as well as in rooms at the university. There are also several prayer rooms available for Muslims at the various TUM locations. The Association of Jewish Students in Bavaria (VJSB) is dedicated to all areas of Jewish student life.

Sexual Orientation

The Queer Unit campaigns for the interests of homosexuals and transsexuals at the TUM and holds regular meetings.

Disability

If you have a disability, you can contact the representatives for students with severe disabilities at the Klinikum rechts der Isar (schwerbehindertenvertretung@mri.tum.de) or at the service point for disabled and chronically ill students at the TUM.

Age

The TUM values all agegroups at the university. For example, it continues to involve professors who have been awarded the honorary title of Emeriti of Excellence in the university even after they have retired, and draws on their many years of experience and reputation. At the same time, it strives to promote the compatibility of professional obligations with the care of family members in need of care: in addition to detailed information, you can also receive personal advice on the subject of care at the TUM Family Service.
